Travel to the heart of Shelby County in Memphis, and you will find one of the largest urban parks in America: Shelby Farms Park, an expansive 4,000+ acres of green space operated by Shelby Farms Park Conservancy. The Land Trust for Tennessee adds a layer of conservation protection to this municipal park by holding the conservation easement that will ensure it will be open space for generations to come.

About Shelby Farms Park

Shelby Farms Park features more than 40 miles of trails that attract visitors for walking, biking, running, and hiking. The park’s trail network includes portions of the Shelby Farms Greenline, an iconic 10.65 mile paved cycling and pedestrian trail that connects the heart of Memphis to the heart of Cordova.

The protected park has a number of features, including the Woodland Discovery Playground, Lucius Burch Natural Area, Patriot Lake, Shelby County community and educational gardens, stables and equestrian area, a herd of American Bison, Agricenter International, and much more, all located in the middle of a booming city.

Shelby Farms Park is one of multiple public parks The Land Trust for Tennessee protects with a conservation easement. This tool provides an added level of conservation protection to the county park to ensure it will be accessed and enjoyed today and always.

Protecting Shelby Farms Park was a multi-partner effort with Shelby County Government, Agricenter International, The Hyde Foundation, The Plough Foundation, and Shelby Farms Park Conservancy.
