The Holland Farm has been in their family for over 100 years, giving it the distinction from the Tennessee Department of agriculture as one of the 18 Century Farms that The Land Trust protects across the state.
In 2008 when the conservation easement was put on this land, Kermit Holland was one of the oldest living farmers in the state. He was motivated to protect his family farms for the future generations of his family, but also for the local community. The property is completely surrounded by Bethel College and the Holland family was invested in protecting the farm to keep the peaceful land surrounding the college in tact.
Kermit has now passed on, but his wife Nancy, daughter Jill and son Jack still live on the farm. Jill Holland is now the mayor of the town of Mckenzie where the farm is located!
